JOHANNESBURG WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER WITH DOCUMENTARY STYLE
I am a professional Johannesburg-based Wedding Photographer, working in and around Gauteng. My style is best described as photojournalistic or documentary and I believe that most of the genuinely expressive photographs are those which are captured spontaneously and in the moment – natural and unposed.
By making use of beautiful lighting in both an illustrative and creative manner, and combining that with my natural story-telling approach, I will ensure that your Wedding Photos reflect you at your most spontaneous and relaxed – as you should be on your Wedding Day! I am unobtrusive in my technique and I record the events as they unfold, capturing emotions, reactions and real moments with as little direction as possible.
I am internationally recognised in my affiliations with both the Wedding Photojournalist Association (WPJA) as well as the International Society of Professional Wedding Photographers (ISPWP). Nationally, I am a member of SA Professional Photographers (SAPP). I have also had my work published in a number of Wedding Magazines. Please take a look at my Weddings to view my portfolio and you may get in touch via the Contact link in the menu.
How to hire the right wedding photographer
Choosing the right wedding photographer may be a challenge, especially if you don’t know where to start. Since social media platforms are filled with photographers offering their services, it’s hard to know which one of them can meet your expectations. You have to assess their portfolios well, read reviews online or just go with your gut sometimes.
Here at Lindy Leeming Photography, we understand how crucial it is to hire someone well-versed in wedding photography. It’s not as easy as hiring a flower vendor, a cake baker or a band to keep things alive on your reception. We know that it’s a risk, so we’re here to help you get started. Take a look at these tips:
Plan your budget
When it comes to wedding planning, you must plan your budget before looking for services. This is especially important when you start to look for a wedding photographer to hire. Remember that most of them have different rates and packages, so it’s better to know how much money you’re willing to pay.
Moreover, make sure that you understand what needs to be included in your package! You might want some albums, fine prints and high-quality photos since these things will affect the final quote.
Choose your photography style
All wedding photographers follow different photography styles. Some may take pictures with a vintage mood with washed-out tones and a nostalgic look, while others prefer to take bright pictures with saturated colours.
This is why you need to choose the style that matches your taste and wedding theme. Once you’ve figured out what kind of pictures appeal to you, you can start searching for your preferred photographer. Look at their portfolios and arrange an appointment with them to get to know them well.
Although portfolios are a great way to know if a photographer is worth a shot, you still have to interview them. In this way, you’ll get to know them better, establish a good connection and learn more about their craft. Besides, you’ll be working with them throughout your wedding day, so find someone you can get along with.
During the meeting, make sure that you ask the following questions:
- How long have you been in the wedding photography industry?
- After the wedding, will we receive print rights?
- What is included in your packages?
- Can we see the pictures of the recent wedding that you covered?
- Will you bring an assistant photographer with you on the wedding day?
Once you’re done discussing the technical details, ask them personal questions. Ask about their hobbies and the things that excite them the most outside of photography. Know about their pets, how many kids they have or if they’re planning to work abroad. The more you know about a person, the better you’ll connect with them.
