Something About Me

Hello!

If you have clicked on this, you are obviously curious to know more about the person behind the lens, me! Well, first off, I have to say that I am not a very good auto-biographer!... I will try my best though to give you a brief insight.

I am Johannesburg based and live in Bryanston with my husband, gorgeous daughter and my two Burmese Cats.

Photography has always been a passion of mine and my earliest childhood memories include sneaking off with my Dad's precious old Pentax SLR to take pics of my favorite dog! Not having a clue what I was doing and with no knowledge how to operate a manual SLR, the photos were inevitably all horrendously out of focus - as if they had been taken from out the window of a moving bus! When my Dad found out that I had been appropriating his camera, he promptly bought me (what is now an archaic) cassette camera with a disposable flash with bulbs that used to pop on each shot (I will have to google what that thing was called!)

Having left the Corporate World when my daughter was born, I made a radical career shift into the world of Photography and studied full-time during 2008 at The National College of Photography in Bedfordview. I was awarded a distinction for my end-of-year portfolio - a photojournalistic insight into the state of townships in and around Johannesburg and its impact on the lives and characters of its people.

Photojournalistic Wedding Photography was a natural progression for me the following year and I ventured into that field. My style is natural, relaxed and I take a very documentary approach involving very little of the more formal, traditional style of posing.
